I get that. I never liked it much, either - and half the time, they'd rather mess around than do club activities, anyway. It's not really worth it, sometimes.
At least it means you're free to do what you care about your own.
Right. I have a lot more freedom now that I don't have to worry about the club... [she trails off for a second, a flicker of something odd through the emotion share — before she shakes her head.] Are you talking from experience, though?
[ that'll get a curious look, but since we're moving on, he'll drop it. ]
Mm. I tried the music club out when I started high school, but a lot of them were just there to have an extracurricular on their transcript. They don't actually care that much about music beyond listening to the most popular songs at the time and talking about who they think's the hottest singer. Oh, jeez... I hate that. It's always so frustrating and disappointing when you think you've finally met people who share your interests, but they don't really care beyond how it makes them look. Then it's, like, you just wasted both of our times.
Right? It's annoying - like it's all for popularity points instead of actually caring about something. Things like that are why I never tell anyone back home that I play guitar.

That suits you, though - literature club. You seem like the type. Did you leave to focus on college, then?

Besides, we never really managed to get more than just a couple of members.
