[ vague hints of concern are mixed with wryness as zelda approaches. ]

I do hope your literary tastes are less macabre than your artistic ones.

I'm joking. For what it's worth, I actually appreciated the painting in question, once he explained its background to me.
metacognition: too many steps. fei du getting frustrated. (68)

[ rude

there's like no real emotional response, but the corner of his mouth lifts anyway. ]

Mmm - no, not really, unfortunately. Most classic literature tends to be pretty brutal.

That's fair. A bulk of history, no matter what world, is written in blood, after all.

[ ... ]

On that topic... how are you faring?

[ no more blood

ah, though; when it switches tacks to talk about him, fei du's smile gets a little larger, just a bit. his emotions are still basically a void. ]

Now that I'm not covered in egg yolk, better.

I suppose you've already spoken about it at length with others...

[ nyeh. she sits down next to him, folding her legs and glancing at the screen of his psp. ]

Would you tell me what you're doing now, instead?
metacognition: fei du's got this. hands off fei du. (93)

I have, but I don't mind talking what about what happened, though - maybe in private.

[ a small smile, there.

when she sits, he tilts the screen so she can see it a little better! he's on a boss level, at the moment, tapping away at the controls. ]

It's a video game called Patapon - it's fairly old, but I've always been fond of it. [ his psp itself in fact is scuffed up, some of the paint on the buttons worn away. ] You hit the buttons in rhythm to command your troops to move forward and attack enemies and monsters, or guard from enemy attacks.

[ she's just exuding curiosity now, finding no point in trying to hide it or rein it in. ]

I've never seen a device used purely for entertainment, though I suppose it wouldn't be too out of the question to program them for that purpose... most machines like this are used for research, and even then, they're not really made for just anyone to use.

[ ...the movement is very subtle, but zelda starts to unconsciously bob along to the pata-pata-pata beat. ]

Yours looks like it's been through extensive use.

[ zelda may examine it all she wants! he doesn't seem to mind, and is familiar enough with the game that he can play it lifted up a bit so she can examine the underside, if she'd like. ]

It has. [ a slight tick of affection in his void emotions. ] I've had it for seven years, and it's not a system that's easily replaced. To be honest, it's very out of date - companies don't really support the creation of this one, anymore.

[ his old ass psp. patapatapatapon! ]
