That's exactly the point, actually. It's a selfie— a picture you take of yourself. The scenery isn't important unless you're trying to create a specific ambiance.
But a mirror only shows the present. If you wanted to capture a moment in time, like, maybe you were feeling cute and wanted to show off a little, or you wanted to commemorate an occasion— a picture is the way to go.
